Pro Democracy activist the Honorable Ted Hui, who served in the Hong Kong legislative council, was one of the leaders in elected office fighting against the Communist Party of China's actions to destroy Hong Kong's freedom and autonomy until he had to flee.  Joey Siu was a leader in the student democracy movement in Hong Kong, until she too had to flee.  Internationally acclaimed human rights activist Ben Rogers co-founded and serves as Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch, a UK based organization which researches and monitors threats to Hong Kong's basic freedoms, the rule of law and autonomy as promised under the "one country, two systems" principle enshrined in Basic Law and the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
