The First North Korean Defector Day and Presidential Medal Award Ceremony 

 

- President Yoon Suk-yeol declared July 14th as the first North Korea Defector Day and invited the NKFW delegation, including Kim Ji-young and Bae Gwang-min (FNKR Part-Time Reporter), to participate in the ceremony. In his speech, President Yoon emphasized that his administration would ensure North Korean refugees’ safe arrival in South Korea. President Yoon shared that the first step to the resolution of North Korean human rights issues is to welcome North Korean defectors into South Korea. Further, President Yoon highlighted that his administration would never neglect the people of North Korea suffering under the Kim regime.

- More important, Kim Seong-min, Co-Chair of North Korea Freedom Week and President of Free North Korea Radio, received the Dongbaek Medal, which is the highest civilian award given in South Korea, from President Yoon.
